Katerina Kiousi studied in the Department of Nutritional Science at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Surrey, United Kingdom from where she graduated in 2003. She obtained a degree in Dietetics and Nutrition Equivalent and Recognized with the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition of the Harokopio University of Athens.

During her studies she collaborated with Surrey University’s Psychology department on Research into changes in body image perception, mood and self-esteem during weight loss in 300 obese patients who followed 4 popular diets diet- ways to lose weight divided into groups. The British television channel BBC broadcast the results of the Survey in June 2003.

In 2004, she obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health Education and Promotion from King’s College London, England. In her personal research, she dealt with Health Promotion and healthy Nutrition strategies for children in Primary Schools.

Alongside her studies, in 2000 she attended seminars at the Brookwood International Academy of Health Research and obtained a Diploma in Basic Clinical Practice and Health Research.

In 2002 she attended seminars of the Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene on the subject of Food safety and after written exams obtained a diploma related to the control of Food Safety in Public Areas.

She did her Internship in Clinical Dietetics in Greek Public Hospitals in Athens. At the Tzanio Hospital, she attended cases such as childhood obesity and Diabetes Mellitus. At the General State Hospital, she attended patients with kidney diseases, gastrointestinal, liver problems, cancer patients, burn patients, etc. At the Sismanoglio Hospital, she mainly attended cases with respiratory/pulmonological problems, cystic fibrosis, etc. At the Red Cross, she attended to patients with cardiovascular problems.

In 2006, she worked for one year as a Clinical Dietitian in a renowned Medical Center in Athens, while at the same time she was a Nutrition Educator in the Education Program of N.E.L.E. where she organized nutritional education sessions for the public in Glyka Nera of Eastern Attica.

In 2008, she worked for one year as a Clinical Dietitian in a Private Clinic/Rehabilitation Center for people with mobility problems of various causes.

In 2015, she was the Scientific Manager of the Dietetic Center at the Vouyoukaleio Clinic in Aigaleo for a year, while at the same time she was an external partner of Boarding Schools where she planned the nutrition for autistic children and patients with mental illnesses. Moreover, in the past, she had undertaken the “Sports-Nutrition” Educational Program at the sports facilities of the Hellenic-American College of Psychics of Athens. She is a member of the Panhellenic Association of Dietitians and Nutritionists.

From 2006 until today, she has been active in the personal Dietetic Office in Penia in Eastern Attica and more recently in the office in Cholargos. The Dietetic Center meets all legal requirements and has a Professional License.

She has attended seminars related to Dietetics and Medicine such as:

  • 2005 – 8th Panhellenic Dietetics-Nutrition conference
  • 2003-7th Panhellenic Dietetics-Nutrition conference

She has given speeches such as:

  • May 28, 2011 – Lecture on Nutrition in Parkinson’s Disease at Stratos Vassilikos Hotel in Athens
  • February 7, 2010 – May 2010 – In collaboration with the Hellenic Center for Art and Culture Speeches in the Municipalities of Glykon Nero, Lavrio, Spata and Paenia on the value of a Healthy Diet
  • May 2010 – Speech on NET in the program of Michalis Kefalogiannis “Health for All” on the subject of Student Nutrition in the Hellenic Examinations.

She is a frequent contributor to Dietetics and Nutrition issues in the electronic and print media.

She is a mother of 2 children.
